| Is anybody able to explain to me, why why why why why in Spanish, I am unable to use the Direct Object pronoun for 2nd person plural in a sentence if there is an Indirect Object??? I am told that in such a sentence, the IO *must* be the 2nd person plural, and the DO is the other thing (in this case, a 3rd person singular).
Carlos quiere presentarnos al agente. <-- This example is clear, where NOS is the 2nd person plural INDIRECT OBJECT pronoun. " Carlos wants to present the agent TO US" <-- English equivalent. (I got that example correct, by the way.)
I am told that native speakers of Spanish would NEVER NEVER NEVER interpret that phrase as: " Carlos wants to present us TO THE AGENT" <-- where "the agent" is the INDIRECT Object and US is the DIRECT object
WHY WHY WHY WHY can we not say something like Carlos quiere presentarLEnos (where LE is the Indirect object pronoun for 3rd person singular; and NOS is the Direct Object Pronoun) ?????
Please point me in the right direction for literature on this subject and put me out of my misery.

| The weather is awesome here! We went to Playa Grande for a presentation for investing/timeshare for Playa Solmar. The property belongs to the same people/group/entity. Man, I wish I had enough money to put in a down payment.. because you could've gotten the timeshare thing at an awesome price, pretty much almost 1/3 if you signed up at the First Visit Presentation. As part of the incentive, presentation package, we also got a blanket-rug type thing, the mamas got a bottle of tequila each, and in fact, it was through this that we got a ride from the airport to our current hotel and they provided monies for the taxi back to the airport when we leave. We also had the chance to prepay at a discount for other activities but we didn't decide to (so we lost out). But we got a free (?) ticket(s) to ride on a Glass Boat. It's a normal boat with the middle of the hull (dunno if I'm saying it right) with glass so you can see through. If you're still enough or close enough, or if the fish are close enough, you can see them!! I saw mostly yellow fish with black stripes.. some trout looking things.. you know, silver. Also a flat faced-looking fish.. We were and went around the very very tip of Baja California... the West Coast. MUAHAHAHHAHA. Oh yeah, there was a dead pufferfish floating too. ALL PUFFED OUT! I wonder how it died. Oh well, back at our hotel, the World-something or other by Wyndham. Pool-time. | | |

| As inconsistent as this is... Plans for moving out of the country didn't pan out. However, as of writing this brand-spanking-new entry, I am gainfully employed with a side part-time job, AND taking 2 classes at CCSF (9 units total). This pretty much means no more World of Warcraft; at least, back to the hours before I got into raiding/lvling like crazy as in Winter and Spring quarter of my freshman year of college (and following years). After learning Hangul, the Korean script from a Korean International student last summer, I ended up stopping due to going to Taiwan. Now I am learning Spanish at CCSF. If you include Mandarin (at least, getting-around-speech), Spanish will be my 4th non-English language (once i can actually communicate in it, of course). I will eventually go back and finish Korean, and then work on picking up Italian (due to similarities with Spanish, and me picking up some rules about Italian; courtesy of Structure of Romance Languages, Ling 187) and Thai (since I started to learn some useful phrases for the ICU-Payap thing almost 2 years ago. Gah, bed time. I am soo going to not have enough sleep for tomorrow =*( Toodles~~ | | |
